Bank connection expired or disconnected

Open Banking consent is time-limited. Renew under Bank, check the MitID flow, and confirm reconciliation start is still set.

Written by Nicki Elgaard

Bank connections via Open Banking (PSD2) rely on consent that can expire. That’s normal — not a security breach. When it happens, new transactions stop until you renew.

Quick diagnosis

  • Warning under Bank about expired/disconnected connection?

  • Missing transactions for recent days?

  • Old items still visible but no new ones?

Checklist

  1. Go to Bank.

  2. Find the affected account/connection.

  3. Choose Renew / Reconnect.

  4. Complete bank login (MitID etc.) without closing the window mid-flow.

  5. Select the same accounts as before (or the ones you still need).

  6. Wait for the first fetch of new entries.

  7. Confirm reconciliation start is still set (it usually remains).

Common causes

Consent expired

Signs: Scheduled expiry; message in UI.
Fix: Renew — see Connect your bank.

MitID / login interrupted

Signs: Error mid-flow.
Fix: Retry; same device; allow pop-ups.

Wrong person tried to renew

Signs: “No access” at the bank.
Fix: Someone with authority on the business account must complete the flow.

Only one account missing

Signs: Other accounts work.
Fix: Add the missing account in consent when renewing.
