Alert when a supplier account number changes (fraud protection)

Payfriend warns if a supplier’s account number suddenly differs from last time — verify before you pay. Duplicate checks also run.

When a supplier “suddenly” must be paid to a new account number, it’s a classic fraud pattern (fake email with new bank details). Payfriend helps with a warning if the account differs from what you’ve used before — plus duplicate checks before payment.

Why it matters

An approved payment to the wrong account is often gone. The protection is not a guarantee, but an extra brake.

How it works in Payfriend

  1. You’ve paid the supplier to account A before

  2. A new document or edit points to account B

  3. Payfriend warns before payment

  4. You verify via a known channel (call a known number — not the one in the suspicious email)

  5. Only then do you pay or correct

Duplicate checks: the system also warns if the same bill/amount looks like a double payment.

What you should do

  1. Stop if you see the warning

  2. Compare with prior invoices / supplier card

  3. Contact the supplier on a previously known phone/email

  4. Update the account only when sure

  5. Then pay — Pay bills
