Payfriend helps you see and track VAT on work you book through the platform. Official VAT filing with the tax authority still follows your normal process (typically via accounting system, accountant, or the tax portal) — Payfriend is a layer on top of accounting, not your filing portal.
Before you start
Accounting connected (e-conomic, Dinero, or Billy)
You’re booking documents/bills in Payfriend so there is VAT data to show
The VAT module is visible on your account (otherwise it may be hidden in rollout — ask support)
Steps
1. Open VAT
Choose VAT in the sidebar (between Bank and Payroll in the typical nav).
2. Choose period
Set the period you want to review (month/quarter — depending on UI).
3. Review amounts and lines
Use the overview for input/output VAT (as the module shows), and drill into underlying documents if something looks off.
4. Fix the source — not only the report
Wrong VAT is usually fixed on the document/line (rate, account), not by overriding a filing in Payfriend.
5. Reconcile with accounting
Compare with the VAT report in e-conomic/Dinero/Billy before you file with the tax authority.
Check that it worked
Period matches your filing period
Special cases (0%, reverse charge) checked manually
Numbers agree with the accounting system before filing
Common issues
Symptom | Cause | Fix |
VAT menu missing | Module hidden / missing permission | Check role; ask support |
Diff vs Dinero/e-conomic | Booked only in one place | Find document; fix and sync |
Wrong rate from AI | Read error | Fix VAT on the line before booking |
Expected “file to tax with one click” | Not Payfriend’s role | Use your accounting/tax portal process |
