Booking mode controls whether Payfriend may book immediately when confident enough, or whether postings land as draft so you always approve manually.
Before you start

Steps
1. Open bookkeeping settings
Go to Settings and find bookkeeping / automation settings (label may vary slightly).
2. Choose mode per area
Typical areas: bills, receipts/documents, payroll, bank. Pick auto for the “~80% hands-off” experience, or draft if a bookkeeper must review everything first.
3. Save
4. Test with one document
Upload or wait for a document and check whether it books or lands for approval. See Approve bookkeeping.
Check that it worked
New items follow the chosen mode
The team knows whether to swipe or only monitor
No unexpected postings in accounting
Common issues
Symptom | Cause | Fix |
Still full of manual queues | Confidence too low for auto | Fix account/VAT so AI learns |
Too much auto | Mode set to auto everywhere | Set critical areas to draft |
Menu missing | Missing permission | Admin adjusts role |
